In Canada, some provinces and territories offer adoption assistance to children who are adopted from foster care (children who are waiting to be adopted are called crown wards). Saskatchewan’s Assisted Adoption Program that can be helpful in providing support that helps adoptive families access medical care, counseling or therapy, special equipment, tutoring programs, and other supports that help them raise their children who have been former crown wards.
