Audra Remenda - Book Launch (Saskatoon)

January 31, 2019

Join Audra Remenda for the launch of her memoir Beneath the Star-Filled Sky: A Legacy of Adoption Reunion.

Beneath the Star-Filled Sky is a memoir of adoption reunion that reflects the voice and perspective of both an adoptee and her birth mother. Interspersed with emails and letters between the two women, the narrative will draw you into their unorthodox, heartwarming and, at times, heart-wrenching relationship.

Audra Remenda values authentic relationships and all things purple. She is a mother, wife, sister, friend, health care professional, and an adoptee. Raised in a loving home, she felt comfortable in her own skin. In her early 30s, after years of nursing, she decided to pursue a degree in social work and found the self-reflection inherent in those studies led her to search for and reconnect with her birth mother. As a result of the reunion, she has experienced peace, happiness, and blessings to depths she never could have imagined possible.

Youth Speak Out

The Youth Speak Out team in Saskatchewan has begun.

The training workshop that was held on October 27th, 28th, and 29th, 2017 was a great success!

We will be building the YSO team in Saskatchewan by providing another training session. The Dates are as followed: September 14, 15, 16, 2018.

Anyone wishing to join YSO must attend the training workshop. Also required, as a member of the YSO team, is regular attendance to monthly meetings and some form of participation in advocacy. This can be participation in our panel presentations or simply utilizing another artistic medium to tell your story, convey key messages of the importance for permanency, and advocating for changes to the child welfare system, and other systems that youth interact with in SK.

We are already having an impact in the community. On November 20th, 2018 the team did a panel presentation at the Children's Advocate Office in Saskatoon. On January 2, 2017 the team did a panel presentation at the Ministry of Social Services office to many supervisors and workers within the ministry. On June 9th, 2018 the team did a panel presentation to Saskatoon Police Services and a number of Elders. The team shared their stories with a receptive audience in a Q & A format. Congratulations to the team on their public speaking events as they spoke out to advocate for social justice!

Please call our office for details!
