The Evermore Centre offers a number of events & workshops that are available throughout the year.

Indigenous Storytelling

February 08, 2024

In honour of Storytelling month, The Evermore Centre is pleased to announce an in-person, collaborative event with the Saskatoon Indian & Metis Friendship Centre!  Elder Sanford Strongarm Sr. will guide the storytelling session through various stories and experiences. This event creates a space for connecting to families built through adoption, foster care, kinship care, and PSI agreements and honors traditional cultural ways of bringing family together. Enjoy soup and Bannock prepared by SIMFC.  All ages are welcome!

Rapid Access Counselling

At The Evermore Centre, we have recognized a need for counselling in our office through our “Your Opinion Matters” survey. In response, we have partnered with Family Service Saskatoon to provide phone, virtual, and in-person FREE Rapid Access Counselling out of our office at 527 Main Street in Saskatoon.

Family Craft Night (2 days): Indigenous Medicine Bag

March 19, 2024 - March 21, 2024

For families grown through PSIs, Kinship, Guardianship, Foster Care, and Adoption. Come out for two nights of fun and learning with Jasmyn Albert and the Evermore Team. A chance to learn about Indigenous teachings while you make your own beaded or painted medicine bag! Everyone is welcome and the medicine bag can be customized to accommodate all ages. Please note that this is a two day event, Tuesday, March 19 and Thursday March 21 from 6-8pm. Snacks & drinks are provided.

Peyakôskân (One Nation) Family Gathering in Regina

April 13, 2024

Please join us for a day for the entire family, filled with interesting and fun activities. The workshop is focused on families grown thru PSI, kinship, guardianship, adoption and foster care. The morning session will divide the parents/caregivers into one group and the children/youth into another, allowing for open discussion and learning for each. The parent group will learn about loss and how it manifests and then focus on how to parent through these challenges. The children’s/youth group will focus on addressing and understanding their feelings. Both groups will include an Indigenous perspective. Lunch will be provided to socialize and connect with other families. After lunch, we will start with a session on supporting families and Indigenous culture and then we will conclude with an Indigenous craft – making talking sticks – fun for all ages!

"Strengthening Our Families: Round Dance" is an inclusive event that brings together diverse communities to celebrate the power of family, unity, and resilience. Rooted in the tradition of Round Dances observed by many Indigenous cultures, this intercultural gathering aims to foster a sense of belonging, understanding, and shared humanity among participants from all walks of life.
